Yay it's Tuesday, what a nice day. I kinda like Tuesday it isn't monday or Wednesday - but I prefer Thursday and Friday.
I think Thursday is my favourite week day. Wow we had over 400 unique views on the blog in the last week, that is like 57 a day ( by the way I changed my major at university from finance to marketing so don't quote me on my maths).
ANYWAY.. Today I bring to you the wonderful Roam Free Collections... Don't tell Arnika, but she inspired one of the patterns we are using on my label this summer.
Roam Free is a collection of clutches, bags, homewares and jewellery. I was very drawn to this store as the clutches are imported from Guatemala, Central America. They are amazing as they are hand loomed by the women of Guatemala. Traditionally the textile piece is used to create a Huipil, a traditional top worn by Mayan women. All clutches are personally selected by Arnika and are one of a kind. Each piece of textile used is unique and tells a story of the Mayan culture. And the best part is, they are ethically and sustainably made!
Who is ARNIKA? Arnika is from Philip Island, Victoria.
"I love nature, travelling, cultures, tourism and health! Raised on Phillip Island, i have grown to love the outdoors and nature. When i am not working on Roam Free Collections i am studying, working or travelling! Travelling is a big part of my life and i am so thankful that i have been lucky enough to travel so much!"
Arnika started Roam Free in October last year, Roam Free Collection was inspired by her travels.
"On my last trip to Europe, i bought several pieces of jewellery and turkish towels during my stay in Turkey. Every hostel i went to, girls would always comment and ask my where i got my jewellery from ect, so i thought 'hey i could probably sell this!' . I also liked the idea of making an outlet of pieces that when you are travelling you can not afford to buy or cant fit in your backpack! I guess too i just love looking for unique things!"
Roam Free Collection has made Arnika's life a lot busier, she said she has spent a lot more time on social media! I asked Arnika the very hard question of what is her favourite product ( and trust me if you have been on her website/instagram you would know how hard this question would be to answer)!
"Its a tie between my Fethiye Necklaces and my Guatemalan products! Fethiye Necklaces because they remind me of this amazing shop that i discovered while travelling through a small sea side village of Turkey. These necklaces are handmade by the two brothers that own the shop and are very unique! Guatemalan products because they are so full of culture, colour and style! How could anyone not like these pieces! There is something very special about the magic of the Mayan textiles!"
It is quite obvious what inspires Arnika - and that is travel and other cultures, she is consistently looking for unique products to provide to us. Some of us can't afford to travel - but at least we can pretend with our Guatemalan clutches.
I asked Arnika what she would like us to know and he answer has really tsuck with me since reading it.
"That its just me! Doing this solo and giving it a go! "If your dreams dont scare you, then they arnt big enough"
Btw her favourite online store for clothes is Verge Girl... well thats where I am heading right now! I'll see you all next week :)
